Painting: Almond Blossoms by Vincent Van Gogh 1890

It was the moment of hope,

It was the moment of dispair,

She came into my life when no one else was there.

She was a well grown tree yet to blossom,

She asked me to wait for the spring,

Which was very cumbersome.

She promised me her flowers,

She assured me her fruits,

Her elegance made me blind and I couldn't see her roots.

She asked me for patience,

She asked me for time,

She asked me to wait so that she can be mine.

I waited beneath her shade,

Smelling her fragrances,

Eager for the day for actualizing her assurances.

But one day she suddenly vanished,

And merged with her roots,

I was left alone,

Searching for her shoots.

Did she betray me?

Or was it preordained,

Did she ever exist?

Or was it only in my brain.

I realised it soon,

That I can do nothing but cry,

I was just a bitter truth,

And she was a sweet lie.
